Series: Dragonflies of South Texas
Camera: 635 HP Photosmart, 2.1 MP 12x zoom
In effort to help fill an online database on a Garden/Nature site I frequent, I started trying to photograph and ID as many of the different types of Dragonflies as I could find in my area. I've always noticed these little guys floating around my fields and around the little pond out back and know they love to eat mosquitoes, so I've always been glad to have them around.
To my surprise there are a lot more types than I ever realized, not to mention it is very challenging to get close enough to get quality macro photos of these little guys. Especially with my little cheapo camera. I have to literally get within two feet from them to get these type shots and even closer to get the better ones. For those that have tried this, you know how hard that can be . . . for those that haven't . . . give it a try sometime . . . you'll see how tricky it can be.

You have good little insect collection going 
Ive enjoyed seeing the many different species you have in your area and gaining a little info on exactly what they are than just a dragonfly or damselfly. And yes, definitely good to have around to keep the 'skeeters at bay
